• Interface & Layout Design — Designed homepage & content pages per directions set by “business decisions”
• Hand-coded XHTML/CSS — Developed XHTML structure by hand without a framework or content management system
• Created Custom Graphics — Designed background & UI elements and graphics to enhance user experience

About this Project

StudentCity is a subsidiary of TUI Student Travel, my current employer. I have worked for them, designing new sections and updating existing ones since late 2007.

This website grows and evolves on a daily basis. Our homepage was redesigned close to a dozen times during 2009. I have been responsible for designing layout & interface for each new page for 4 years.

Priorities and initiatives for the website were not determined by a web or marketing department until May of 2009, so this site exhibits signs of “too many cooks.”

Credit where credit is due: this website was originally designed by iMarc, LLC.. They do great work, but as our company evolved, our website needed to keep up. During my first 6-7 months at StudentCity, my only responsibility was to adapt and improve out the existing HTML/CSS. I haven't changed 100% of their work, probably closer to 50%.
