On WordPress as a CMS

Well, I finally made the jump. This site is now running completely off of WordPress. It’s hard for me to relinquish control of my HTML/CSS to any platform. I’ve always been a fan of hard-coding everything but my content. And, as I’ve written about in the past, I take great pride in clean source code.

Pretty much all of that is out the window now.

But, I do appreciate the time-saving aspect of a WP-driven site. After all, it’s pretty much a one-click install. And, the flexibility it affords me is excellent. I can always go into my current theme and edit a few lines here or there.

That’s exactly what I’ve done here. I’m using a slightly modified version of Typebased by WooThemes. I added my own logo, and dressed up the background a little bit. The guys at WooThemes have a really great thing going and I’m happy to be a testimonial on their behalf.

I really like your theme! I can find everything on your blog so easily. I wish that more people kept things simple like this rather than add flashy banners that simply distract and blind me and make me click away fast.

I’m considering buying the developer’s version of Thesis, but your theme is coming very close to what I ideally would like. Hmm, I should have a look at WooThemes! I like WordPress now but used to hate it. Part of my change of heart is because I’ve learned how to work with it from a new WordPress guide by Leanne King that is geared for internet marketers.

Some interesting ideas in there. It seems WordPress can be tweaked to do pretty much anything that a traditional site can now.
